Trevor Lawrence looked frustrated with himself after he appeared to suffer a knock during the Cincinnati Bengals game on Monday night. He had to be taken off for further examinations.

With just under 5:30 minutes left on the clock, the scores were tied 28-28. The Jacksonville Jaguars had the ball on 3rd and 1. Lawrence, with a shotgun snap, checked back a few steps to avoid the blitz from the Bengals’ rushers.

However, he wasn’t able to release the ball and had to digest a sack. At first, he didn’t seem happy that he was unable to complete the pass, and it turned into a fourth down. Then he got back up and tried to put pressure on his right leg. Shortly after, he could be seen screaming in agony and going down, holding the alleged injured leg.

Lawrence must have realized that something was wrong with his leg. He took off his helmet and smacked it onto the ground in frustration. The 24-year-old night was seemingly over, as he needed the support of two people to hobble off the field and head straight for the infirmary.

A closer look at the Trevor Lawrence injury

On initial viewing, the injury appeared to be a non-contact injury. However, upon closer look, the answer is somewhat clear. It seems Trevor Lawrence’s unfortunate end to the night happened due to his teammate. Unintentionally, of course.

Amid the action, the Jaguars’ offensive line was trying their best to keep the Bengals’ players away from Lawrence. As the pocket started to collapse, Jacksonville’s offensive tackle, Walker Little, backed into his QB, and his right cleats stomped onto him while holding Cincinnati’s defensive end, Trey Hendrickson.

It did not end there. Hendrickson then slammed into Lawrence in full force and flattened the former Clemson man. Then the Bengals man, with the help of Jaguars receiver Zay Jones, helped Lawerence get up on his feet.

The Pro Bowler did not return to the game, and veteran quarterback CJ Beathard replaced him. Before going off, Lawrence had kept the Jaguars in the game with 22/29 for 258 yards and 2 touchdowns. Beathard managed to take the game to overtime. However, his 8/9 for 61 yards was not enough to stop the Bengals from winning their sixth game of the season 34-31.

Cincinnati’s quarterback, Jake Browning, went 32/37 for 354 yards and a touchdown. Runningback Joe Mixon carried the ball 19 times for 68 yards and scored two touchdowns.
