The UFL has established itself as an entertaining professional league that can boast of having talented players. The league commenced its debut season recently, and it has been well received by fans so far. Now, fans get to watch football throughout the year and not just from September to February!
Last week, a player from the UFL rose to fame instantaneously after he scored a 64-yard field goal to lead his team to victory. Now, it is safe to say that three things in life are inevitable: death, taxes, and Jake Bates when it comes to kicking a 60+ yard field goal.
Jake Bates, the kicker of the Michigan Panthers, made the remarkable field goal last week and came in clutch. His kick resulted in the Panthers securing their first victory of the season. While his feat was impressive, many were quick to dismiss his achievement by dubbing him to be yet another one-hit wonder. Well, it is safe to say that Jake Bates proved the critics wrong in the second week itself.
Bates managed to kick a 62-yard field goal against the San Antonio Brahmas. The Panthers opted to go for a field goal towards the end of the second half as the clock wound down to 0. With this, Jake Bates has the record for the longest kicks in UFL history with his 64-yarder last week and at the second place, his 62-yard field goal this week.
Justin Tucker holds the record for the longest field goal in NFL history
Jake Bates could end up becoming the first UFL player to be offered an opportunity by an NFL team. His skillset is remarkable and elite kickers in the NFL struggled to kick field goals from this distance. The longest field goal recorded in league history is of 66-yards scored by Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens.
Following Bates’ second 60-yarder in two weeks, fans marveled at his potential and took to social media to express their awe. Here’s what they had to say about his kick via X:

Bates has shown that he is incredibly talented. It will be fascinating to see for how much longer he can continue to dish out 60-yarders with that cannon he calls a leg. If he manages to continue this for the remainder of the UFL season, he will not be returning to play for the Panthers next season because no NFL team will pass on him.
