Jake Matthews is one of the most important team members of the Atlanta Falcons and is a consistent performer. Picked up by the Falcons as the sixth overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Matthews has been one of the best in the business since then.
On Thursday night’s fixture against the Carolina Panthers, the Falcons were once again looking towards him to give results. However, it seems like Jake Matthews’ and his wife Meggi’s firstborn baby had different plans!
Meggi Matthews was scheduled to deliver the child on Sunday, but that didn’t happen and she went into labor earlier than expected, leaving Jake Matthews in a pickle, but he still managed to find a way to manage both.

Jake Matthews reaches Atlanta in time to witness the birth of his firstborn child
Thursday was probably one of the most hectic days in the life of Jake Matthews as he tried to juggle his personal and professional life. Matthews, who was in Carolina, received a call that Meggi had undergone labor and he wasted no time to fly to Atlanta and be beside his wife.
The couple has been blessed with a baby boy on Thursday afternoon and has decided to name him Beckett. However, the job was still half done and Matthews still had to fly back to Carolina to be in time for the Panthers vs Falcons game and he managed to do so with a little help from Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank.
Arthur Blank managed to save a spot on his private plane for Jake Matthews and was successfully able to fly him to Charlotte in time for the 8:15 pm game. Matthews was seen running into the locker room in his slippers.
