Earlier this week, defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Carter found himself in the midst of attention when reports surfaced which claimed that he and a woman with him stole goods from a Center City Target store. The rookie DT has now spoken on the claims and brushed them aside as “just a misunderstanding.”
Jalen Carter and his friend were first confronted by a Target employee and then by law enforcement. The defensive tackle was let go and no formal police report was filed by the police as per The Philadelphia Inquirer. The woman with Carter had put some goods in a bag without having paid for them and the rookie defensive tackle picked up these bags.
The news about the incident spread due to social media. Jalen Carter, however, does not have the entire story right himself. He said:
I don't really know too much about it.
Jalen Carter has been having a spectacular rookie year
Jalen Carter is on track to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and has made several teams regret having passed on him in the draft. Philly picked him at number 9 in the draft, his stock dropped owing to his tendency to get into trouble off the field.
Just before the draft, Carter pleaded no contest to reckless driving charges after a crash that led to the demise of a University of Georgia football player and staffer.
So far this season, Carter has recorded 4 sacks and 29 total pressures. This incident involving Jalen Carter was nothing but a mere misunderstanding and the defensive tackle is not in any sort of trouble.
