There was doubt whether Jalen Hurts would even play in the wild-card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hurts had to go off injured on the last day of the regular season after hurting a finger on his throwing hand.
That wasn’t enough for him to sit out the game on Monday night. Going into that game, the Philadelphia Eagles had lost five of their last six and were subject to intense scrutiny from the media houses. Not only that, a few even questioned whether the former Alabama man could even be a long-term starter in the NFL.

However, the world saw a different and much more fierce Jalen Hurts before the kickoff at Raymond James Stadium. The 25-year-old gathered around his Eagles teammates for a pep talk. He was filmed shouting,
It ain't no motherf***in' tomorrow!
Jalen Hurts barely threw the ball in practice after the injury
Midway through the New York Giants game at MetLife, Hurts dislocated his middle finger. He had no choice but to come off, and Marcus Mariota replaced him for the rest of the game. By that time, he had thrown 16 passes for 55 yards, and one interception.

The following week, he gave as much rest to his injured finger as possible. According to Hurts, he barely practiced throwing leading up to the trip to Tampa. ESPN‘s Tim McManus explained the Eagles QB’s injury.
Hurts' hand collided with the hand of Giants linebacker Booby Okekreke during a pass attempt early in the second quarter. The cameras showed that his finger was displaced. Hurts later told the reporters that it 'popped out.'
His availability for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game was a massive boost for the Eagles. Despite his recent slump in form, they require him. Hurts has a very good track record in the postseason. He has a passer rating of 84.7 with 837 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions in 4 games.
In the 2022 season, they played three games en route to the Super Bowl. He had 58 completions, 66.7% completions for 579 yards, and three touchdowns. In the Super Bowl game against the Chiefs, Jalen Hurts threw for 304 yards on 27 completions and one touchdown.
He finished the 2023 regular season with 3853 yards, 23 passing touchdowns, and 15 rushing touchdowns (leading the league), along with 15 interceptions (3rd most). The Eagles finished the regular season with an 11-6 record.
