Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts turns 25 today and has only one wish: to win the Super Bowl. He reached the championship final last season but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. During the offseason, he has searched for answers on how to turn weakness into strength by studying greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
“I look at guys like MJ and Kobe [in the offseason],” Hurts revealed to Peter King in this week’s Football Morning in America. “How they diagnose their game.”
Both the NBA greats were famous for their unending tenacity. As Hurts implied, both knew how to get back up after a defeat or grind through adversities that would weigh down a regular athlete. Who can forget the 1997 NBA Finals, when the Chicago Bulls faced off against the Utah Jazz? Michael Jordan went into the fourth game with the flu and dropped 38 points as the Bulls won. The NFL and NBA may be two different sports, but hitting a wall and breaking past it is the sign of a winner and a legend in any game, which Jalen Hurts understands.
“Obviously, two different sports,” Hurts said. “But [I am] trying to get better at my strengths and then turning my weaknesses into strengths.” The Pro Bowler is not satisfied with just reaching the Super Bowl. He even keeps a memento on his phone of last season’s loss as a reminder of what his ultimate goal is. (H/T: ProFootballTalk)
Nick Sirianni claims Jalen Hurts thinks like a coach on the field

The 2023 NFL season is only a few weeks away, and the Philadelphia Eagles are deep into their training camp. As they prepare for their preseason friendlies, coach Nick Sirianni praised quarterback Jalen Hurts’ mentality on the field.
“He’s operating at a very high level within the offense,” Sirianni told NBC Sports‘ Michael David Smith. “[His] understanding more so how [and] why we do things. Hurts is like a coach on the field.”
So far, he has completed more than 60 passes in the training camp, according to CBS Sports Jeff Kerr. Sirianni would hope that this is a sign of things to come when the regular season kicks off. He seemed pleased with his QB’s commitment to improving his game.
“I just see continued improvement and consistency with Jalen,” he claimed. Hurts finished the 2022 NFL season as the runner-up for league MVP behind the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes.
