Jalen Hurts made history earlier yesterday after the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was offered one of the biggest contract extensions that has never been seen before. Jalen did this at just 24 years of age which makes his achievement more impressive. Hurts signed a $255 million contract extension with $179.304 million fully guaranteed.

The quarterback turned the fate of the Philadelphia Eagles franchise around last season as the team relied upon his leadership and playmaking to become one of the most feared teams across the NFL. While the Eagles did reach the Super Bowl but were not able to cap the season off successfully with a championship, the one thing that was clear to the franchise and the fans was that Jalen Hurts deserves to be the future of this franchise.

Jalen Hurts’ parents are Averion and Pamela Hurts. The quarterback put up remarkable numbers himself. With a 66.5% completion rate, 22 TDs thrown, 6 INTs, 760 yards in rushing, and 13 rushing TDs, Hurts was all over the stat sheet. His story is incredible as the quarterback is a true underdog. Jalen Hurts was a second-round pick, 53rd overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, he started just 4 games and took over the starting job in 2020. The chronology of events and the progress that the QB has made makes his story even more incredible and ESPN analysts Mike Greenberg and Louis Riddick would concur with that statement.

The analysts were in awe of the quarterback after the news regarding his contract extension broke out. Here’s what Greeny had to say about Hurts, “Jalen Hurts is a young man, he has been in the public eye for so long in Alabama. This is a young man who was YANKED at halftime of the National Championship game by Nick Saban for crying out loud…many people were surprised he went as high as he did in the second round (of the NFL draft). To be where he is right this minute… this is one of my favorite stories that we’ve had in the NFL in decades.”

Greeny is spot on with his take after Jalen Hurts had a subpar performance during the 2018 College Football Playoff game against Georgia, Nick Saban benched him and put Tua Tagovailoa in the game who was able to lead Alabama to a win. After this event, his draft stock took a nosedive, and questions about his ability to be successful in the NFL rose. However, just 5 years later, Jalen Hurts has shut all the haters down.

Louis Riddick was equally impressed with what Jalen Hurts has been able to do. “He is wired different, he has self-belief that is different, he has an intrinsic motivation that is different…there will be no dropoff with him now that he has got his money…
