The Miami Dolphins suffered a blow earlier last week. It was revealed that the team’s new cornerback Jalen Ramsey, a vocal figure in the defensive locker room, would have to undergo surgery on his meniscus in the left knee, which will result in him missing some games at the start of the regular season. While this news was frustrating to not just Ramsey but also his team, there was one reason to celebrate. His ACL was fine.
Now that the cornerback underwent surgery and Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel has given fans a late 2023 timeline for his return, Ramsey is continuing to do his bit for the team by being present for practice and helping the younger corners to fine-tune their game. At the Miami Dolphins training camp, Ramsey was seen hopping around in crutches and helping rookie Cam Smith to make some adjustments to his game.
You have to love that about Jalen Ramsey; he knows he cannot physically get out there and be on the field with his teammates but he showed up to offer moral support and share his practical inputs with rookies who will need it heading into the season. Prior to his surgery, the corner had posted on social media that following his surgery, “I’ll be back stronger than ever.”

Ramsey’s injury was a result of a collision with wideout Tyreek Hill. The corner had to be carted to the locker room following this. The team was doing 11-on-11 drills while Hill and Ramsey managed to come in contact and fell to the ground.
Head Coach McDaniel was positive about his corner following surgery and had this to say: “I think the surgery went about as well as it could have…we’re elated about that. He couldn’t have a better mindset with which to attach this process. He’s immediately saying, ‘Tell me what the timeline is and I’m gonna beat it by a month.'”
Jalen Ramsey is a fighter and will be persistent. It will not be surprising to see him suit up a month earlier than anticipated, as the Dolphins do have some of the best trainers and medical staff. For now, Miami has signed the corner Eli Apple from the Cincinnati Bengals to replace Ramsey until he is back.
