The 2023 offseason has started and there has been a start to some major trades and signing being done. The most important ones to look out for are Aaron Rodgers‘ future with the Packers, Lamar Jackson‘s contract talks with the Ravens, and the signing of veteran quarterbacks, Jimmy Garoppolo and Derek Carr, who are free agents.

There have also been some interesting decisions from the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams mortgaged their future to sign former No.1 overall pick Matthew Stafford, and it paid off as they won Super Bowl LVI at home. But now, they are in the middle of a rebuild and are $14.9 million over the salary cap, per Over the Cap.

The Rams are clearing out cap space and they started off by parting ways with veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner on a mutual basis. Los Angeles initially planned to keep him on the roster for a long time, which was evident when they signed a five-year contract worth up to $65 million last year. With all the cap issues, the Rams had to make some tough decisions and release a few key players.

Among the key players being released by the Rams, sources have revealed that cornerback Jalen Ramsey will also be released by the team. As reported by Tom Pelissero, the Rams have had trade talks with Ramsey and that a trade is “very likely” and will happen in the coming weeks. Jalen Ramsey reacted to this report with laughing emojis. He has been active on his Twitter feed and reacting ever since the news about his possible trade from the Rams has been circulating on the Internet.

In one tweet he wrote, “It’s gone be what it’s gone be. It’s gone happen how it’s gon happen.” He then added, “this misinformation people run with is hilarious… y’all tap into that Word of God tho. That’s real.” Jalen Ramsey was traded to the Rams by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2019 and was then given a five-year $105 million contract extension by the Rams, making him the highest-paid defensive back in the league at that time.

While Jalen Ramsey hasn’t acknowledged the fact that there have been any talks about his potential trade from the Rams but the franchise sold their soul to the devil to win that Super Bowl ring and now the devil has come to collect. Even if Ramsey is released after Wagner, there still won’t be enough cap for them to get under the league-mandated cap space.

It’ll be interesting to see which and how many players the Rams have to cut during the offseason!
