The Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals currently share one of the most fierce rivalry in the NFL. They are two of the top contenders from the AFC and their matchups have been entertaining, to say the least, thanks to their talented quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow. The two teams faced off in the last two AFC Championship games and won one each.
Just last season, during the AFC Championship game, the tensions were so high even both city Mayors got involved in a social media beef. The Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval gave a lot of bulletin board material to the Chiefs, which led to the Kansas City-based franchise defeating the Bengals in the all-important game.
And now, even before the start of the 2023 season, the Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has given a bulletin board material to the Chiefs by mocking the 2-time league MVP QB Patrick Mahomes. On Wednesday, Chase spoke to the reports during the team’s mandatory training camp. During the interview, the Pro Bowl pass catcher was asked about the best player in the NFL, and Chase had an answer ready for it.
“Joe Burrow,” Chase said. “Everybody knows that. That’s easy. MVP.” Furthermore, after the reporter told Chase that Burrow picked Patrick as the best player in the league, Chase replied, “Who said Pat? Pat who?”.
Of Course, Ja’Marr Chase is simply backing his best friend, Joe Burrow. Even the Bengals QB himself said there’s no argument about who the best player is right now since Patrick Mahomes has achieved a lot more than the other players.
Joe Burrow claims Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the league
Nowadays, there’s a lot of debate about who is currently the best player in the league. The former Bengals QB Carson Palmer and the Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase both picked Joe Burrow as the best player in the league, but the Cincinnati QB begs to differ.
Before the start of the Bengals’ mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, Burrow addressed the media and was asked about who is currently the best QB in the NFL.
“I don’t think there is any argument now, it’s Pat,” Burrow told the reports on Tuesday. “Until somebody has a better year than he’s had. He’s the one to knock off.”
Nonetheless, Joe Burrow, who is entering the last year of his rookie deal, has the potential to dethrone Mahomes as the No.1 QB. If he added an MVP award to his resume in the upcoming season, he’d be one step closer to dethroning the Chiefs’ signal-caller.
