“Cleveland is Cleveland!” Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase DISRESPECTS Deshaun Watson’s Browns ahead of week 1 game revealing he almost called them the ‘Elves’

The Cleveland Browns, led by their star quarterback Deshaun Watson, are set to face the Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals in week 1 of the 2023 regular season. Throughout the week, the Bengals have been hearing their ugly record against the Browns in the last 10 matchups. The Browns have won 8 of the 10 games. But Cincinnati’s star receiver Ja’Marr Chase isn’t worried about the Cleveland “Elves.”
“It’s a regular game to me,” Chase told reporters on Thursday. “It don’t feel no different. It’s the hooting and hollering about the Cleveland, um, Browns. I was about to call them the ‘Elves’.”
The Elves’ comment obviously comes as a reference to the Browns’ angry Elf logo, which the team unveiled back in 2022. Chase said that the Browns’ elf looks funny and different.
Furthermore, when asked, if he paid any attention to the chatter about the Bengals’ win-loss record against the Browns in the last 10 games, Chase replied that he hasn’t paid any attention to it and is just treating the week 1 games as a simple regular season matchup.
“Uh, I don’t really hear it,” Chase said. “If you ask me, I don’t really pay attention to it because Cleveland is Cleveland. I look forward to the matchups that we have when we’re facing them, but other than that, I don’t really be caring.”
It should be noted that the Bengals are 1-3 against their AFC North division rivals Browns since Ja’Marr Chase joined the team back in 2021. Also, they are 1-5 against the Cleveland-based football team since Joe Burrow joined them back in 2020.
Ja’Marr Chase has given bulletin board material to the Browns
The Bengals are set to take on one of their rivals Browns in a tough road game this weekend. Ahead of the matchup, Cincinnati’s Pro Bowl receiver Ja’Marr Chase has given some bulletin’ board material to Cleveland players with his elf comment.
The Browns’ star pass rusher Myles Garrett took offense to Chase’s comments. He called the comments by Chase ‘disrespectful’ and said that he might need to have a conversation with the Bengals’ pass catcher.
Nonetheless, the comments by Chase would fuel the already tense rivalry between the Browns and the Bengals. Both teams have strong rosters and are looking to win the AFC North in the upcoming season.
The match between them this weekend would set the tone for the rest of the season in the AFC North division. Both teams would look to secure a victory and start their 2023 NFL campaign on a positive note.
