The Cincinnati Bengals came into the 2023 NFL season on the back of two AFC Championship appearances. They represented the AFC in the Super Bowl in 2021. Naturally, they came into this season as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. However, they haven’t had the best of starts to the season as the offense has struggled to score touchdowns consistently.

QB Joe Burrow suffered a calf injury earlier in training camp and hasn’t fully recovered yet, limiting his movement. WR1 Ja’Marr Chase hasn’t had a great start to his season. After losing their first two games, the Bengals won their Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams last week. That win was followed by a demoralizing loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Chase caught seven receptions for 73 yards and no touchdowns. His frustrations boiled over after the game.

In a short three-second clip posted on Twitter by Marshall Kramsky, Chase answered a question by saying, “No. I’m open, I’m always f****** open. Excuse my profanity.” A longer video revealed the context of Chase’s answer. He was asked about the Titans pressure on the Bengals offense throughout the game.

“We couldn’t capitalize on those blitzes when they did ‘em. On our end, I guess the receivers didn’t create enough plays,” Chase said. He was then asked if he had less time to get open, which led to the previous response.

Chase and Burrow played together for LSU during their magical 2019 NCAA title run. They were drafted by the Bengals in back-to-back years after that. The Bengals haven’t had a great start to the season, but with players like Burrow and Chase, they always have a chance to make a postseason run.

Ja’Marr Chase has confidence in Joe Burrow to bounce back from a poor start

The Cincinnati Bengals were trounced 3-27 against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. QB Joe Burrow hasn’t had a great start to his season and his calf injury might be a reason for that, according to his WR1 Ja’Marr Chase. However, the WR has faith in his QB to get back to his old self.

“He’s just going through a little adversity, he’s going to get back to it in no time,” Chase said after the game. Burrow finished the game completing 20 of his 30 pass attempts for 165 yards and zero touchdowns. The Bengals’ offensive line struggled against a pressure-heavy Titans defense.

Burrow is having his worst statistical season yet with the Cincinnati Bengals. Through four weeks, he has thrown for 728 yards with just two touchdowns and two interceptions. He has a QBR of just 33.7, which ranks 29th among starting quarterbacks this season. For the Bengals to make a run at the playoffs, Burrow will have to get back to his old self as soon as possible.
