The Cincinnati Bengals have a poor record against the Browns, and the recent game was no different.

The NFL season is back with a bang. The 2023 season began with back-to-back surprises in the opening game as the Kansas City Chiefs lost against the Detroit Lions. The surprises continued as one of the favorites, the Cincinnati Bengals lost their season opener against the Cleveland Browns by a margin of 24-3. The disaster had an immediate impact on the team’s mentality as the wide receiver JaMarr Chase came out with disrespectful comments towards the Browns’ players.

In the post-match presentation, Ja’Marr Chase spoke to the media and doubled down on his disrespect towards the opponents. He said, “It’s frustrating because I called their a** elves and we just lost to some elves. So, I’m pi**ed on my part. I’m pi**ed on that end. We missed opportunities, we didn’t capitalize on that sh*t and we lost.”

The situation started getting heated before the match when Chase made a derogatory remark about the Cleveland team. He said the match against the Browns is no special. He considered the match as a regular one and hoped for an easy win. However, in reality, things turned different. It did not go easy and his team was handed a heavy defeat.

“It feels like a regular game to me. It don’t feel no different. It’s just the hooping and hollering about the Cleveland Browns. I was about to call them the elf’s (elves.) I don’t really hear it. If you ask me, I don’t really pay attention to it because Cleveland is Cleveland,” he made this remark before the match.

Despite the result, Chase tried to have a good performance on the field. However, his efforts were limited. He caught five receptions for 39 yards. But the Bengals failed to pass the defensive wall of the Browns. The Browns held the Bengals to 2.6 yards per play, and they had six first downs. They went two of 15 on third downs.

Ja’Marr Chase’s comment did some good to the Browns, as they got motivated before the crucial season start. They went on the field with high spirits and wanted to have revenge based on these comments. The Bengals did not have a good record against the Browns. Prior to this game, the Browns had an 8-2 record against the Bengals in the last four years. Hence, taking this game lightly made the Browns’ players offended.

Myles Garrett, the Browns defensive end, was so furious that he wanted to have a discussion with the Bengals’ WR. Addressing the issue to the press, the player said, “See, now that was disrespectful. He didn’t have to go there. The elves was probably he knew better. We might have to have a discussion before or after the game, maybe during if I see him. But yeah, the elves is a little bit too far.”

For now, Garrett and his team have shut down the Cincinnati-based team’s noise. Browns will now be going against Pittsburgh Steelers on September 18.
