The intense rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals keeps growing. Most recently, the Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has now hit back at the Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce for their comments. As revealed on the Netflix show ‘Quarterback’, Mahomes wanted to face the Bengals during the last playoffs since their players talked too much trash.
And now, Chase can’t wait for the Bengals’ matchup against the Chiefs that is scheduled to take place in week 17 of the 2023 NFL regular season. “I’m excited for it, I can’t wait for it, I don’t wanna say too much because we already had Mr. Kelce come back with something. So, you know, I must be under somebody’s skin,” said Chase during his recent interview with Kay Adams on the FanDuel show Up & Adams.
Interviewer Kay Adams specifically asked Chase about Mahomes’ comments on the Netflix show Quarterback. This back-and-forth between the Bengals and the Chiefs has happened a lot during the last couple of seasons. Especially in the 2023 off-season, the Bengals’ Pro Bowl pass catcher Chase has been very vocal about his feelings about the Chiefs camp.
Just a few weeks ago, Chase took a jab at the 2-time league MVP Patrick Mahomes while crowning his teammate Joe Burrow as the best player in the league. Mahomes didn’t let that slide and subtly hit back at Chase by posting a picture of him posing with his two Super Bowl rings. The Chiefs’ star tight end Travis Kelce also backed Mahomes and warned Ja’Marr Chase not to talk about his quarterback again.
While all this was going on, Burrow has not been involved in any trash talks. He even said everything will be settled on the field when both teams face each other on New Year’s Eve.
Ja’Marr Chase wants Joe Burrow to completely heal before returning
A few days ago, the Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a calf injury in the training camp. He was carted off the field and is expected to miss the remaining of the camp.
The severity of Burrow’s injury is unknown and he could end up missing some game time, which has saddened a lot of Bengals fans. But Chase is not worried about it. In fact, he even wants the Bengals QB to miss their season opener against the Cleveland Browns, which is set to take place in a few weeks.
Chase wants Burrow to completely heal before stepping onto the football field even if it means Burrow missing the first half of the 2023 regular season. However, Burrow is not expected to miss that much time.
