The backup quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, Jameis Winston, delivered a fiery and passionate pregame speech before the team’s preseason final. The speech emphasized the importance of the moment and left everyone who got the glimpse awestruck. The right choices of words inspired not only his teammates but also the fans across the NFL world.
In his speech before the game, the QB was spotted instructing his teammates to feel gratitude for the opportunities they got. He hinted that opportunities do not come often to the lives of the players.
Winston began with a fiery shout and said, “Gratitude! Gratitude is the key to abundance. We pray for this opportunity. We pray for this night. We pray for this night. We pray for the time together and finish this preseason strong. Turn up for your family. Turn up for your last name and turn up and everything that you have got. Because everything matters.”
Winston had a great season in 2022. He had 73 regular completions out of 115 attempts. He completed 858 yards and had an average completion rate of 63.5%. He finished the season with four touchdowns. The below-average numbers were the result of injuries.
This season the Orleans have traded Derek Carr as their first-choice quarterback. They spent $150 million to trade Carr with an intention to turn the tables. They finished their last season with a 7-10 record and were unable to reach the playoffs for the second consecutive season. The team will seek to turn the losing streak into a winning one and hence the inclusion of Derek Carr will gear them up. However, the head coach Dennis Allen will also have a bet on Winston as a backup player in the team. Especially after the speech during the preseason finale.

Twitter went crazy after listening to Winston’s words. The fans came up with high praise and appreciated his leadership abilities. Some said that he should start as a first-choice quarterback so that he can inspire the players both on and off the field.
However, it seems that the head coach Dennis Allen will rely on Derek Carr instead of playing Winston as the first-choice QB. Winston started a few games last season as their first choice. However, he suffered from major injuries. Hence, his fitness will be a major concern for the team and the coach.
New Orleans Saints will begin their new 2023 season on 11 September.
