The Jets are on the brink of signing the future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers per multiple reports. Apparently, the New York-based football team is willing to pay whatever the Packers want in exchange for their franchise QB. However, Rodgers’ former teammate James Jones believes it makes absolutely no sense for the Jets to pursue the 39-year-old quarterback.
During the recent episode of the Fox Sports show First Things First, the former Packers WR James Jones joined Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes to talk about Aaron Rodgers’ situation. In that episode, Jones revealed that Rodgers should’ve been the third choice of the Jets in the QB pecking order behind Lamar Jackson and Derek Carr this off-season.
“Everybody knows how I feel about Aaron Rodgers, thinks he’s the baddest man on the planet to ever throw the football,” said Jones. “But when you’re talking about this, Lamar Jackson absolutely should be numero uno. You’re gonna plug him into your offense with a really good defense for the next 10 years and you are gonna have opportunities to punch your tickets to the playoffs and who knows how many Super Bowls you’re gonna get to with Lamar Jackson. No.2 would’ve been Derek Carr as well.”
Jones then went on to explain Derek Carr should’ve been the No.2 option since the Jets wouldn’t have to spend a lot of draft capital for Carr who was released by the Raiders recently. Nevertheless, Carr ended up signing with the Saints, so the Jets are left with either Jackson are Rodgers.
James Jones believes the Jets are not a good fit for Aaron Rodgers

Former Packers WR James Jones continued his rant about how the four-time league MVP QB Aaron Rodgers potentially signing with the New York Jets is not a good move for Rodgers.
“Aaron Rodgers would’ve been my number 3,” said Jones. “Because he’s leaving the situation and coming into a dang near identical situation, you have young players on the outside that you’re gonna have to get chemistry with.”
“For the Jets, yes, they’re shooting their shot at a QB because they feel like they’re a QB away from competing for championship. For Aaron Rodgers, it makes no sense to go to the Jets.”
In brief, Jones believes Aaron Rodgers should just stay with the Packers instead of leaving for a new team. Besides, Jones also believes that for Rodgers, the Packers are a better fit as a unit than the New York Jets.
