The Detroit Lions have been a force to reckon with this season, the team which had sunk to the brink of irrelevancy due to disappointing seasons in the previous years now comfortably sits atop the NFC North with a record of 8-3. The organization’s bet to get Jared Goff onboard as their QB has paid off well.

Despite playing good football this season, Jared Goff was subject to criticism from fans online after one of his tweets from back in 2013 resurfaced. The QB posted a conversation he had with his grandfather, who was a cop. Goff’s grandfather told him he had arrested the late and great rapper Tupac Shakur.

My grandpa telling me old cop stories and brings up 'some punk named Tupac Shakur" that he arrested back in the day. My grandpa is a #boss.

Goff’s grandfather served as a police officer in Marin City for 11 years. Since he was posted in California, there is a real chance that he did in fact arrest Tupac Shakur who was based out of Oakland. Note that Marin City and Oakland are two different locations.

Jared Goff’s grandfather claims to have arrested Tupac Shakur

Tupac was no stranger to getting into hot water with the law. He has been arrested on at least 8 separate occasions. It is not clear for which particular offense Jared Goff’s grandfather arrested him. While the QB thought he was just posting an interesting fact out there, fans did not take this tweet well.

Some called his grandfather a racist and alluded to the fact that he arrested the rapper for the color of his skin. After the Lions’ loss to the Packers 29-22 due to Goff’s mediocre performance, fans brought this tweet back and used it to take shots at Goff.

Jared Goff was not at his best against the Green Bay Packers, he ended the game with 332 yards and 2 touchdowns but he ended up having a career-high 3 fumbles. It was just not his night. The Lions will look to bounce back on Sunday when they take on the New Orleans Saints.
