The defending NFC Champions Philadelphia Eagles is scheduled to take on the Indianapolis Colts in their third and final preseason matchup on Thursday. Ahead of their matchup, both teams were involved in a joint practice session. And naturally, the competitiveness between both team players led to several fights involving even star players like Jason Kelce, Derek Barnett, and Anthony Richardson.

Tension initially began when the Eagles’ defensive end Derek Barnett punched the Colts rookie QB Anthony Richardson to get the ball out. The hard hit did not sit well with the Colts players. The Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks tweeted Derek Barnett got into a fight with the Colts players following his hard hit on the Colts’ 2023 4th overall selection.

Many Eagles players, including rookie defensive lineman Jalen Carter, rushed the field to help Barnett, which created a feisty environment in the training session. Furthermore, in another incident, the fired-up Indianapolis linebacker Zaire Franklin laid a heavy hit on the Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell.

Philadelphia’s veteran offensive lineman Jason Kelce was not happy with Franklin’s hit and trucked the Colts linebacker to the ground, starting a huge skirmish. Kelce’s blindside hit started a huge brawl between both teams, which led to the coaches ending the practice session. Now, the defending NFC East Champs will once again share the field with Colts in a preseason game on Thursday night.

The Eagles and the Colts were involved in a huge brawl on Tuesday, that ended the joint practice session between the teams. Following the brawl, Kelce revealed that he is not happy with how he reacted.

“That was not OK,” Kelce said, per John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “That was unacceptable from me.” Kelce’s blindside hit on the Colts linebacker, Zaire Franklin, triggered the massive brawl.

However, the Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell, who was hit by Franklin, had a different reaction to the whole incident. “We’re a team. We aren’t gonna let anybody come into our house and take over. We’ll continue to work hard each and every day. We whooped their a** though,” Gainwell told reporters after the end of the joint practice session.

On the sporting side of things, the Eagles are looking to defend their NFC Crown and further win a Super Bowl ring in the upcoming season under their star quarterback Jalen Hurts. Their 2023 campaign will start with a road game against the New England Patriots on September 10.
