Jason Kelce bid adieu to the game of football after 13-long-years. The center for the Philadelphia Eagles announced his highly-anticipated decision in a press conference which he called. Emotions were high during the event and Kelce struggled to find words at times because he was overwhelmed. His family was present at the conference to showcase their support to him. Travis Kelce was seated at the front row and wore shades to hide his tears.
Jason Kelce could not give a retirement speech without mentioning his brother. As expected, he expressed his gratitude towards him and cherished the bond they shared since childhood.
“We have a small family, no cousins. One aunt, one uncle. It was really my brother and I our whole lives. We did almost everything together. Competed, fought, laughed, cried, and learned from each other. We invented games, imagine ourselves as star players of that time. We’d envision making the winning plays day-after-day on Coleridge road.”
The duo have had one another’s backs since day 1. Jason and Travis were always together and learned from one another’s mistakes. Football has been their first love since childhood. The duo had dreamed about making it to the NFL and winning multiple championships by making clutch plays in the final moments of the game.
Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce had set their minds on becoming the greatest NFL players at their positions from childhood
Jason Kelce went on to add, “We won countless Super Bowls in our minds before ever leaving the house, and when we weren’t playing, we were at other ones games. Butt seated in a lawn chair or a bench, a capri-sun in our hand that mom had packed. Cheering during the game and waiting outside after to celebrate a victory together or offer encouragement after a defeat.”
The brothers were always present at each other’s games. To watch and cheer each other on. Irrespective of the outcome of the game, Jason and Travis picked each other’s spirits up after the games. That is one element that has not changed even today. Jason Kelce is present at the games of the Kansas City Chiefs whenever he can make it and the same goes for Travis. The brothers continue to be one another’s support system.
Jason Kelce concluded by thanking Travis, “There is no chance I’d be here without the bond Travis and I share. It made me stronger, tougher, smarter, and taught me the value of cooperation, loyalty, patience, and understanding.” Their brotherhood taught him some of the most valuable life lessons which played a vital part in helping him succeed in the NFL. Travis Kelce’s love for his brother could be seen as well, the tight end could not hold himself back and was tearing up incessantly. More than their professional careers, the bond shared as brothers by this duo is special and means more than any Super Bowl win to them.
