WATCH: “It doesn’t fit the script!” – Jawaan Taylor’s ‘obvious’ false start not being called results in fans accusing the NFL of being RIGGED in the Chiefs’ favor
Jawaan Taylor was called out live TV for his underhanded tactics.
Jawaan Taylor called out for cheating by fans
Football is back, and so are the bad judgment calls from the referees. It got really bad when the officials failed to identify Jawaan Taylor‘s alleged violation at the line of scrimmage.
The Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle consistently lined up a foot or two behind toward the backfield. Occasionally, he moved his right leg when it should have remained still. This helped Taylor get a head start on the Lions players. He sometimes held Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson on the same play. So, it can’t be called an unintentional pre-snap foul.
While the referees remained indifferent to the illegal plays by Taylor, they did not go unnoticed on live television. Veteran NBC broadcaster Terry McAulay discussed the situation and could not fathom why the referee would not penalize the former Jags player. “We’ve watched him the whole game,” he told fellow commentator Mike Tirico. “To be on the line, his helmet has to break the waist line of the center. He’s really not remotely close.”
As per Mike Florio, players like Eagles’ Lane Johnson used similar tactics last season. This puts defenders at a great disadvantage because the players got a head start and could easily trackback. Naturally, a few sharp-eyed fans also noticed the anomaly and showed their disdain toward the referees.
Social media erupts after witnessing Jawaan Taylor violating game ethics
The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions had some controversial moments. One such moment came when offensive linesman Jawaan Taylor made some questionable plays at the line of scrimmage. Fans did not like the judgments of the referees in the games. Check out some of the fan reactions:
However, Jawaan Taylor finally got called in the 60th minute on 4th and 25. His slot receiver trick didn’t pay off in the end. His antics did not do much for the Chiefs’ cause to start the new season with a win. They eventually lost to the Lions, 20-21, with a horrible display from wide receiver Kadarius Toney. The second-year playmaker dropped several passes, and one of them even led to a return touchdown. Up next, they will face Taylor’s former side, the Jacksonville Jaguars, on September 17.
