Jaylon O’Neal Ferguson was a talented and young outside linebacker and defensive end who had immense potential. He played college football at Louisiana Tech and impressed one and all with his performances. As expected, he was roped in by the Baltimore Ravens during the 2019 NFL Draft and featured for them for 3 seasons.

Recently, what came in as shocking news to the whole of the NFL world, Jaylon was found dead in Baltimore. The medics found him unresponsive in his apartment and immediately pronounced him dead after initial inspections.

A lot of questions and speculations surrounding the cause of his untimely demise started floating around. There was a possibility of drug overdose and as per latest reports, that indeed was the reason behind his death. As reported by Michael Baca of NFL.com, the autopsy revealed that Jaylon died due to combined effect of cocaine and fentanyl.

The official report is yet to be released but it has been reported that the way in which Jaylon died suggests that it was accidental. After the cause of Jalon’s death was determined, the Ravens released an official statement claiming that they want to focus on the positive impact that Jaylon had on others.

Our priority is focused on the man Jaylon was and the positive impact he made on so many as a father, son, fiancé, friend and teammate,” the statement read. “It would be inappropriate for us to comment further while we continue to support his family and teammates, who are mourning the tragic loss of a loved one and will celebrate his life.”

Jaylon’s demise is indeed heartbreaking. The man was just 26 years old and had a really bright future ahead of him.
