Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Commanders, is in a serious dilemma and needs to sell his team to get out of various controversies and lawsuits he’s gotten himself into. Snyder has been ousted by the NFL and has no other option than to sell his team. The Commanders owner is willing to part ways with the team when offered good money by anyone, except for Amazon’s owner Jeff Bezos.
Bezos and Snyder certainly don’t get along and there may be a personal reason for that. Recent reports suggest that Snyder has blocked and banned billionaire Jeff Bezos from making any bids in buying the Commanders and he even has a strong reason to do that.
The Washington Post, one of the most influential journalism ventures in America, is owned by none other than Bezos. The Washington Post also played an important part in the Commanders’ workplace scandal that led to Snyder selling his team.
Dan Snyder has reason to believe that Jeff Bezos has ousted the Commanders owner through the Washington Post so that he can buy his team. However, banning Bezos isn’t working out for Snyder, as the billionaire has reportedly hired different investment companies to bid on his behalf.
Dan Snyder isn’t getting the money he expected for the Commanders
The Commanders are a massive organization that is worth billions of dollars. However, it seems like owner Dan Snyder has overestimated his team’s worth and maybe he’ll have to come down a bit if he wants to sell his team.
Although he isn’t getting the desired money, Snyder is still getting more money than the previous record held by the Denver Broncos, which was sold last season for $4.56 billion.
Snyder reportedly is asking for around $7 billion for the Commanders. However, the bids that are being reported are nowhere near the number that the billionaire owner has asked for.
The Commanders are getting bids for around $5.5 billion. All the bids that came in for the team were lower than $6 billion. This makes things easier for Dan Snyder if he doesn’t want to sell his team.
Nonetheless, the Washington-based team, which was one of the most valuable sports franchises, after Snyder took charge, has seriously faltered in market value. Since his ownership, they have dropped down to the 6th place.
