The NFC East might be the most fierce division in the NFL, with three teams sharing hostile relationships. The Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Giants are known for their intense rivalries. The extent of this rivalry was recently felt when Jeremiah Trotter Sr. claimed he would not wear the gear of the Dallas Cowboys or the New York Giants even if his soon-to-be NFL player son gets picked by them.
In the father-son duo’s conversation on Takeoff with John Clark, Trotter threw light on the infamous NFC East feuds. The former linebacker played for more than eight years in the Philadelphia Eagles. They drafted him in the 1998 season, saw him switching between two teams over the years (Washington Redskins, 2002-03 and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2007) but finally retired as an Eagle in 2009. Trotter was ultimately inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame.
During his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, the former linebacker was popularized as the ‘Axe Man’. His Axe-Man celebration attracted a lot of popularity among the Eagles’ fans. Now, his son is on the verge of making his foray into the professional league.
After three seasons with the Clemson Tigers, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is set to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. His last season with the Tigers was a blast. He registered 88 total tackles with 54 solos and 33 assists. In addition, he had 5.5 sacks.
Considering the form, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants have shown preliminary interest in the 21-year-old LB. The college football wonder can finally get his rookie contract in the coming season.
Following the possibility, when the host asked Trotter Sr. whether he’ll wear the Cowboys jersey to support his son if Jerry Jones picks his son, the former Eagles great established the ground rules
If he drafted by the Cowboys, that’s where the guy wanted him to go–I have to wear neutral colors. I will wear his college colors. I can’t put on the Dallas jersey. I can’t do it. Maybe, I am too arrogant but I feel, I am too important to the (Eagles) city, and the fans.

The Axe-Man celebration, which garnered so much popularity returned through Trotter Jr. in college football. It was a proud moment for his father. Trotter Sr. was in tears to see his son doing a similar job as he used to do.
Tears. I remember it like it was yesterday--I’ll never forget it. Now, the NFL world is keen to know when that celebration will return to the national league. If that happens to be in the Cowboys colors, surely it will be a tough pill to swallow for Trotter Sr. and the Eagles fans.
