Deion Sanders has influenced so many people in world of college football that they want him to stay as long as possible with Buffs.

Deion Sanders became the face of college football by becoming the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team. His appointment not only brought in more than 60 recruits but also the stardom of Prime Time. It put the struggling Boulder team on the map. His popularity has attracted celebrity names and media attention. That’s the reason why former Buffs wide receiver and 2-time Olympian Jeremy Bloom wants the university to tie Sanders down to an even longer contract than he has right now.

“You’ve got to put that in front of him,” Bloom said to TMZ, fearing that if a better-funded program comes knocking, it might sway Sanders’ heart. “Because right now, the buyout is just too small,” he added. “Any team can come together and get a bunch of boosters to give him some long-term deals.”

When Deion Sanders announced he would be joining the Colorado Buffaloes late last year, it raised a lot of eyebrows. Every major and minor outlet had only one question on their minds: why would he go to a program that finished 1–11 in 2022? Several better teams would have welcomed the retired football player turned coach with open arms.

Despite the constant doubts from all corners, the Buffaloes recorded three back-to-back wins. One of them was the upset against the last-year national finalists, TCU. Now that Coach Prime is in Colorado, Bloom doesn’t want to see him leave in just three or four years. He is even ready to chip in $100,000 from his pocket if needed.

“You gotta put a new deal in front of him,” Bloom said. “It’s gotta be a long-term deal. It’s gotta be up there with the highest-paid coaches in the country. I am a big advocate of making a big deal, probably $166 million for 10 years, and making the buyout unattainable.”

How much does Deion Sanders currently earn as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes?

Jeremy Bloom can relax for a bit because Deion Sanders is not going away anytime soon. Certainly not to the NFL. While he may fear that “that’s what coaches say until someone new comes to them and says, ‘We’re going to bet the whole farm on you,” Sanders will stick around for the next 5 years.

The Colorado Buffaloes gave Sanders a five-year contract worth $29.5 million last October. He is also cashing in his likeness, persona, and catchphrases. Who can forget his tussle with Jay Norvell? He turned the Colorado State Rams head coach’s sunglasses and hat into a business venture that earned him $4.5 million even before they faced off.

Not only that, a report from the Daily Camera revealed that Colorado University has gained $90.5 million in advertisement revenue since the 2023 season started.

Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes may have lost their fourth game against the Oregon Ducks, but their charisma has imprinted on the entire country. It won’t go away easily, and as Coach Prime said, he is here to stay.
