Joe Burrow is certainly the most talked-about QB this offseason. The No. 1 overall draft pick is currently up for a contract extension with his team and is slated to be the highest-paid player in the league.

Currently, that mantle is reserved by Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. However, it is expected that the Cincinnati Bengals QB will soon overtake him in that quest.

There’s also another likely candidate from the Los Angeles Chargers, namely Justin Herbert. Herbert is also up for a new contract extension and will likely sign a massive deal.

Jeremy Fowler recently appeared on the Rich Eisen Show and gave his take on Burrow’s contract situation. The NFL insider believes that the Bengals QB will likely wait for Herbert to extend his deal and sign one based on his numbers.

“Talking to other teams, I think Burrow could wait on [Justin] Herbert in L.A. Like, if Herbert can get a deal done first, Burrow can just say, ‘ok, well that’s the benchmark, give me a little bit more than that and we’ll all be happy,’” Jeremy Fowler stated on the Rich Eisen Show.

In essence, both Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert will sign massive deals in the near future. However, Fowler believes that Burrow will wait for Herbert to sign his deal and will overtake him as the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Joe Burrow is regarded as the best QB in the NFL after Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes. However, his salary states otherwise. The 26-year-old earns around $12 million currently.

However, the Bengals are hoping to sign him for a long-term deal and have just exercised his fifth-year option this offseason. On the other hand, Burrow has also shared the desire to be in Cincinnati and wants to win major silverware with the team.

It is expected that the Bengals will likely offer Burrow a 4-5 year contract extension. The contract will also include guaranteed money and will be the biggest that the Bengals have ever offered any player.

Joe Burrow is an extremely talented QB who has led the Bengals to a Super Bowl as well as the AFC championship last season. The 26-year-old now has his eyes set on the iconic Lombardi Trophy.
