In a rapid unraveling of events, the Cleveland Browns signed Jerry Jeudy for a massive three-year contract worth $58 million, leaving the fans in astonishment. Jeudy has not been putting up great performances in recent years, and hence no one expected such a high valuation for him. However, the Browns had other plans.
Jerry Jeudy started his NFL journey with the Denver Broncos in 2020. He played four seasons in the Broncos colors, not creating the impact one would have desired. In four seasons, Jeudy totaled a little more than 3,000 yards. In addition, he had just 12 touchdowns. After his performance last season, the Broncos did not think of extending his contract and hence the WR became a free agent.
The Cleveland Browns, which performed much better compared to the Denver Broncos already have Amari Cooper as their wide receiver. In addition, they have two other backups. Hence, the signing of Jeudy surprised everyone.
After multiple obstacles following injuries and misconduct, Deshaun Watson will eye for making a strong return this season. He also signed a hefty $160 million deal with the Broncos, however, he failed to show his efficiency. This season will be important for him to prove himself on the gridiron.
Fans advocated for cost-cutting measures for the Browns
The costly deal the Browns made with Jerry Jeudy did not sit well with the fans. They raised their fingers at the mismanagement by the Browns team. Since Football is a quarterback’s game, giving a hefty money to the WR is unwelcome among a lot of people.
The questions keep haunting the Browns because of the Watson deal that they made. The quarterback received a massive deal, however, the team has not received the service they would have expected yet.
With the signing, social media got flooded with plenty of reactions from the fans. Check out some of the comments that they made:
Despite the quarterback crisis, the Browns made it to the playoffs last season. They may have high hopes as the quarterback crisis seems to be gradually fading away.
