The Dallas Cowboys, led by their star quarterback, Dak Prescott, unfortunately had an early exit from the postseason following a loss against the Green Bay Packers in the wildcard round. Following the loss, the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reportedly sought advice from former Dallas head coach Jimmy Johnson about the franchise’s future moves.
Speaking to Joe Rose in a recent episode of WQAM 560 AM in Miami, the 2-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Jimmy Johnson revealed that he is on Jerry Jones’ advisory board now. Jones apparently asked him about keeping Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy in Dallas.
Since the Ring of Honor, I am on his [Jerry Jones'] advisory board now.Jimmy Johnson said
This is great news for the Cowboys nation! Both Johnson and Jones had been beefing ever since the Cowboys owner fired Johnson back in the 90s. Jimmy Johnson had a great tenure in Dallas, where he led the Cowboys to 2 Super Bowl titles. Still, he was fired by Jones despite his achievements.
However, in the last few years, both Johnson and Jones seemed to have patched up their relationship. Recently, Jones put aside his bad beef with Johnson and inducted him into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor for his achievements. And now, he is seeking advice from Johnson on important decisions.
Everything is hunky-dory now. I am back in the fold with the Cowboys.Jimmy Johnson said
Furthermore, the Pro Football Hall of Famer also went on to reveal Jones asked him for advice on quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy’s future in Dallas. Johnson didn’t reveal what he told Jones about them, but the Cowboys owner decided to keep them for the 2024 season.
Jerry Jones going ‘all in’ to win the Super Bowl next season
The Cowboys just finished another disappointing season despite having a great roster. And now, the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones vows to go all in to win the Super Bowl next season.
According to The Athletic, Jones vowed to do things differently this year and be aggressive in the off-season. Well, he has already added Jimmy Johnson to his advisory board in a shocking move. He might have some surprises in the bag ahead of the 2024 season.
We’ll be going all in. … I would say that you will see us this coming year not building for the future. That’s the best way I know how to say it. That ought to answer a lot of questions.

So, it’s clear the Cowboys will do anything it takes including salary cap wizardry to win the Super Bowl next season, just like the Los Angeles Rams did back in 2022. They have the means to get it done, but it’s all in the hands of their quarterback, Dak Prescott.
