While asked about whether the Cowboys have any issues regarding entitlement, owner Jerry Jones outright denied it.

Jerry Jones doesn’t believe that there’s a ‘culture’ problem at the Dallas Cowboys. Even though the Cowboys haven’t been able to reach the NFC Championship game, let alone win a Super Bowl since the year 1996, Jones confidently brushed aside the rumor.

From the outside or to the normal football fan, the Cowboys players spew the aura of ‘entitlement.’ The biggest criticism that they receive is a lack of accountability or an overall fragile mindset. But Jones doesn’t agree with that; rather, in his eyes, the Cowboys’ problem is their playing style, which fails to deliver the killer blow when it really matters.

Jerry Jones said during an interaction on Friday:

When I look at my team, we gotta be able to stop the run better, and we need to be able to run the ball better. If that's culture, then we've got a problem.

However, the angle from which the reporters were trying to attract Jones’ attention wasn’t about the win or loss. They’re trying to point out the entitlement issues among the players. There’s a long-standing perception that the Cowboys always think they are better than others, despite being trophyless for so long.

But the 81-year-old doesn’t agree. Jones said with a stern voice:

Our players? No! no. Our players deserve to feel good about themselves and about what they have contributed to the team. But those have to be the very same players that get down on themselves more than anybody else when they don't play well. That is not a problem with this team.

Naturally, those who snark at the mention of the Cowboys took this as an arrogant statement from an individual who is in denial of their problems.

Jerry only repeated the words that Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said a few days earlier. He too had denied having any ‘cultural issues’ at Arlington.

Jones said, as per Sports Illustrated:

We feel good about our culture. You always want to be better. If your results aren’t winning the Super Bowl, everybody wants to ultimately be the last guy standing. I think overall, both [organizationally] and between our coach and personnel department, our leadership on our team is outstanding.

What the Cowboys require is a winning culture. They know how to win during the regular season, but the playoffs are their Achilles heel. If giving Dak Prescott a new deal changes that, then perhaps the Cowboys will finally be free from all the rigorous scrutiny from analysts and fans alike.
