“I run Hot and Cold with him” Jerry Jones hits back at Stephen A. Smith for his criticism of Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

“I run Hot and Cold with him” Jerry Jones hits back at Stephen A. Smith for his criticism of Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones are in a big dilemma this season as they have two quality QBs and can’t decide who to play. Although Dak Prescott is the franchise quarterback and is paid quite handsomely for that, an argument can be made for Cooper Rush, who impressed everyone while Prescott was out injured.

Dak Prescott was not under scrutiny or criticism, as the Cowboys were winning, but after the abysmal loss to the Packers, fingers were pointed at Prescott’s performance. The QB is 2-1 since he arrived back from his injury and has looked decent.

Stephen A. Smith is known for his outlandish takes on ESPN’s First Take and this time was no different, as Smith stated that Jerry Jones didn’t get his money worth with Prescott. Smith also went on to say that the Cowboys QB has been their worst link since he arrived.

Owner Jerry Jones was asked to react to Smith’s statement on his weekly appearance at a radio show and the Cowboys owner had an interesting answer.

“Well, I might need to get tuned in with any of his latest, I run hot and cold on him.” Jones stated. “The strength that I look at of our chance to win a championship is Dak, and his leadership at that position. His leadership, but because he plays that position, let me say it that way. … But I don’t think that’s accurate.”

Jerry Jones holds QB Dak Prescott in high regards

According to Jerry Jones, Dak Prescott is the shining knight of the Cowboys’ offense and there is some truth to that, as the QB is highly influential and has displayed effective leadership skills.

“Dak brings us the separator, now does that mean Dak is going to win every game or make every comeback or every key situation? You can answer that one, of course not.” Jerry Jones stated. “But by the same token, if you were constructing the possibility of competing for a Super Bowl, I would start on this team right there with Dak. He’s that integral to us really being able to have the year that we want to have”

The Cowboys have put their belief in Dak Prescott and the QB will have to deliver if the team wants to seriously challenge for the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are also looking to sign free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. to bolster their squad.

The Dallas-based team will face the in-form Giants in their next game of the NFL as they come off a heavy defeat from the Packers and will be looking to turn it around.
