As the NFL trade deadline fast approaches, teams are working overtime to either sell or buy to make their team stronger. However, the Dallas Cowboys — a team that certainly needs to address needs in some positions — are not involved in trade talks with any team. Amidst this, the Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has explained why the Cowboys haven’t been aggressive in the trade market.

During a press conference on Thursday ahead of the Cowboys week 8 game against the Los Angeles Rams, Jones told reporters that he doesn’t expect any moves to be made before the trade deadline.

I don't think there's anything at a level that I would expect to do anything. I don't see anything heated up to a level that would cause something to happen.
Jones told reporters.

Earlier this week, the veteran general manager Jones shared a similar statement about adding any players or assets. Jones said that teams would have to approach him for a trade to happen instead of the other way.

I do like this roster. Would I improve it if given an opportunity, and it made a lot of sense? Of course we would. But if we don't do anything at this trade deadline, we've got a team in my mind that can get us where we want to go.

Jones’ answer came as a shock to many people since the Cowboys are far from a team that doesn’t have any needs. The Cowboys could certainly use another wide receiver for their quarterback, Dak Prescott, to target.

Also, they need help in their secondary unit since their star cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a season-ending injury earlier in the season. Jones could acquire a premium cornerback like Sean Murphy-Bunting from the Tennessee Titans for a late-round pick swap. But Jones believes he doesn’t need to add more players to his team.

Social media bashes Jerry Jones for staying idle before the trade deadline

NFL fans on social media, especially the Cowboys fans, blasted their general manager Jerry Jones for not trying to address the team’s needs as the trade deadline approaches fast. Some fans noted how their division rivals Philadelphia Eagles, are still actively trading for players despite winning the NFC Championship last year.

Nonetheless, it seems like Jones won’t be making any moves to add players to his team before the trade deadline. For now, the Dallas-based football team would be just focused on defeating the Los Angeles Rams, who they are scheduled to face on Sunday in their week 8 matchup.
