“That was as thorough a butt-kicking,” Jerry Jones warns the Cowboys about playoffs after humiliating loss to the Commanders
Jerry Jones is hopeful the team learns from its mistakes in Week 18 before taking on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys had a good season as they went 12-5 for the second time under head coach Mike McCarthy. However, owner Jerry Jones had hoped that the team would enter the postseason with a win and generate momentum that’ll help them win the knockout games.
Much to Jones’ dismay, the Dallas Cowboys went ahead and lost 26-6 to the Washington Commanders led by third-string quarterback, Sam Howell. The Cowboys were almost at their 100 percent, with Dak Prescott under the center, Ceebee Lamb, and Dalton Schultz in attendance. The offense and special teams’ mistakes cost the team heavily, but the defense was able to mitigate the damage but couldn’t help as the offense refused to score any points.
Jerry Jones had said six months back that he believes the 2022 Dallas Cowboys are capable of winning games in the postseason and maybe achieving the club’s dream of winning the Super Bowl. But with their humiliating Week 18 loss, Jones is afraid that the team will be knocked out in the Wild Card game and not make it to the NFC Championship game, much less the Super Bowl.

Jerry Jones said the team has all week to ‘suck’ on their defeat
After being handed their fifth and final defeat of the regular season, Jerry Jones addressed the team in the locker room. “We get to suck on that all week,” Jones said. “And if that doesn’t make you want to get ready to go in six-to-seven days, nothing else will. That was as thorough a butt-kicking as we’ve had this year. And we’re going to find out if that will get you ready or not. It should.”
Jones hired McCarthy with the hopes that the former Green Bay Packers head coach will lead his organization to their first NFC Championship game since 1995 and then hopefully to the Super Bowl. McCarthy was on the frontline as he guided the Packers to nine playoffs along with a Super Bowl title during his 13-year tenure with the team.
Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat after three years in Dallas and is looking to establish himself as a great coach with a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Wild Card weekend. Dak Prescott had a less-than-impressive season his year as he threw his career-high 15 interceptions. The team’s performance from the start of the season made them acquire a playoff berth quite early but their final-week defeat stopped them from playing in the Wild Card with a home advantage.
Jerry Jones said that he is hopeful that McCarthy and the boys will rectify their mistakes before they land in Tampa and face Tom Brady and the Bucs. “It’s disappointing, no question. The timing of it is not what you’re looking for. I clearly recognize that. But it’s like a lot of things in life: When you get kicked in the ass or punched in the mouth, you have a chance to respond. I have great confidence in our football team that we will respond,” Jones said.
The Cowboys will face 7x Super Bowl champion Tom Brady at Raymond James Stadium. Brady has faced the Dallas Cowboys seven times in his career and won all seven encounters. Everyone in the league is familiar with Brady’s game-winning ability in the postseason and if the Cowboys play as badly as they did last week then they will be obliterated and their dream of winning the Super Bowl will remain just that – a dream.
Jerry Jones added that he is without a doubt that the team will bounce back from this nightmare and turn it around. Let’s hope he is right and Dallas Cowboys earns its moniker – America’s Team.
