A fierce moment erupted in the game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Chargers defensive tackle Jerry Tillery attempted a gruesome hit on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. The DT was penalized soon and got suspended after the hit.

The moment took place in the second quarter after Herbert faked a handoff and was forced outside of the pocket by the Raiders lineman Maxx Crosby. Herbert successfully dribbled past Crosby and started running toward the sideline. Half of his body was out of bounds when the collision took place. Tillery went straight up to him and hit the QB. Herbert fell on the sidelines but quickly came back to the turf side. He was well-supported by his teammates.

The moment was followed by a heated argument between the players of the two teams as they surrounded each other and started arguing. The hit looked bad and could have led to serious injuries for Herbert. Anyhow, the QB was lucky as he did not pick up any injury and continued playing the game.

The result went in favor of the Chargers. They won the encounter by a margin of 24-17. After four games, the Chargers have registered mixed results as they won two games and lost two. On the other hand, it was another disappointment for the Raiders. In the 2023-24 season, the team has only registered a single victory in four games.

Justin Herbert’s performance vs. the Raiders

Justin Herbert, despite facing the vital challenge by the Raiders DT, completed his game time. However, he was not too good on the field. Completed only 13 passes of his 24 attempts, barely crossing the 50% completions and registered a touchdown. He was also intercepted once. Despite being not so good with his efforts, the QB was effective in leading his team to win the game.

Aidan O’Connell, the quarterback of the Raiders for the game as a replacement for Jimmy Garoppolo, played a better game in comparison with Herbert. He attempted 39 passes and completed 24 of them. The QB covered 238 yards and registered a touchdown. He was also intercepted once. Luck did not take his side in this encounter.
