For most of the 2023 NFL season, the New York Jets have been in the headlines of several controversies surrounding quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, now it appears the trail would continue even this year as the franchise made another bold headline. This time, it wasn’t Rogers but owner Woody Johnson.
The 76-year-old billionaire recently came under the limelight for his political preference as it didn’t sit well with the Jets fans. He was spotted on the stage of Donald Trump’s rally after the victory in the South Carolina Republican primary.

But that isn’t all! Johnson&Johnson’s heir also went public lending his hand of support for the former US President for the upcoming elections, in an interview with Fox News. He urged the public to vote for Trump arguing about the inflation, the situation at the border, gas prices, and grocery prices under his presidency. Here is what he had to say:
Americans remember how good it was or how much better it was on the border, and inflation, and gas prices, and grocery prices, all that, during the Trump administration, and they want to get back there. So I think the most important thing is getting the former president back in the White House, which looks like it’s happening.Woody Johnson said
Johnson’s allegiance to the Republican presidential candidate comes from their long history. He formerly served as the ambassador to the United Kingdom during Trump’s tenure. On the contrary, the Jets’ owner once avoided a question regarding his support for Trump by telling the media to “stick to football” related questions, back in 2021.
Fans displeased seeing Woody Johnson supporting Donald Trump
The Jets’ fans didn’t seem to appreciate their favorite team’s owner supporting Trump again for the upcoming election. Especially given the inconsistency of his public statements concerning the former US President.

Some fans even doubted their fandom for the Jets, after this. Some even called them “nepotism” products supporting one another, while many called them incompetent or corrupt.
One fan wrote, “Nepo babies hang together,” and another wrote, “rich, old and clueless white guy loves Trump? i’m so shocked.” Here are some of the reactions:

The fans even called out Woody for not learning from his mistakes about the last time he supported Trump and also called him a “dump” for his political opinions.
