The New York Jets had their eyes on star WR Davante Adams since last summer. They were keen on reuniting their superstar offseason acquisition, Aaron Rodgers with his former receiver during their time in Green Bay. However, Adams decided to stay put in Las Vegas even after a frustrating start to the season. The Jets haven’t given up on that potential trade though, as they are expected to go after him next offseason.
Adams and Rodgers spent seven years together in Green Bay. After a slow couple of seasons, they established themselves as one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the league. However, the duo failed to win a Super Bowl together. Adams then moved to Las Vegas to play with his college QB and good friend, Derek Carr. That hasn’t gone well though for the receiver, as Carr is now in New Orleans and Adams has had a poor season so far. A reunion might work for everyone.
The Jets will try to pursue Adams again this offseason, according to a source. “That will happen,” the source told ESPN. “I think so.” The source also believes that the Raiders’ second half of the season will decide whether they will want to trade Adams or not. Since firing their former head coach, Josh McDaniels, the Raiders look like a different team. They have won 2 games on the trot and have improved to 5-5.
Jets are 4-5 this season as they lost their last game against the Raiders. Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the Jets’ season opener and has been rehabbing ever since. Rodgers and Adams reuniting in New York will be an amazing sight.
Antonio Pierce wanted to keep throwing to Davante Adams
The Las Vegas Raiders‘ week 10 win against the New York Jets meant that the Raiders have now improved to 5-5 for the season. This was their second win in a row and are looking like a completely different team under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. The head coach talked about the win and said that he wanted to throw the ball to star WR Davante Adams.
Pierce said after the game:
The first couple of plays were right to him. Get the ball in his hands, get him going. When you’ve got one of the best receivers in the game, I’m not stupid. I know who to get the ball to.
Adams finished the game with 6 receptions and 86 yards.
The Raiders will play their next game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. They will look to keep this winning momentum going. The Dolphins are coming off of a loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in their last game and will vary from the Raiders’ great form.
