The New York Jets loaded their team in the 2023 off-season and got many weapons, including star running back Dalvin Cook for their supposed savior Aaron Rodgers. However, Rodgers ended up suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in the first drive of the Jets’ 2023 season, which messed up the franchise’s plans. And now, the Jets are looking to move on from some of their talents ahead of the trade deadline per reports.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Jets general manager Joe Douglas is looking at trade partners for multiple players including the speedster Mecole Hardman and the pass rusher Carl Lawson. And there’s also a possibility the New York-based football team could move on from Cook, who hasn’t made a big impact in the ongoing season so far.
“GM Joe Douglas has his phone lines open for a trade partner to deal receiver Mecole Hardman. Hardman’s former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, is a suitor to watch. I’m also hearing that the team would be willing to move on from edge rusher Carl Lawson,” wrote Russini, further adding, “It’s possible the team is even open to dealing Dalvin Cook as the trade deadline gets closer.”
Dalvin Cook signed a one-year deal worth up to $7,000,000 with the Jets in the off-season. He was expected to be one of the biggest weapons for Rodgers, but the 39-year-old’s unexpected injury blew the Jets’ plans. Now, through 5 weeks of the regular season, Cook has only carried the ball 36 times for 97 yards while averaging just 2.7 yards per attempt.
Apart from Cook, the Jets have 2 good RBs on their roster, Breece Hall and Michael Carter. If the Jets get a good trade partner, it is possible they can move from the 4-time Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook before the trade deadline on October 31.

Dalvin Cook hasn’t lived up to the hype in New York
During the 2022 season, running back Dalvin Cook registered his 4th straight Pro Bowl season with the Minnesota Vikings. But the Vikings made a shocking decision to cut him from the squad.
Later, the Jets ended up signing Cook, which created some buzz around the league. But the 4-time Pro Bowler hasn’t lived up to his hype in New York. He has been playing as a backup to the Jets RB Breece Hall and hasn’t made any explosive plays through the first weeks of the ongoing season.
As a result, the Jets general manager is reportedly trying to trade away the 28-year-old running back. If that is true, multiple teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, could end up acquiring Cook for a late-round draft pick.
