The Michigan Wolverines woes continue as the team is the latest recipient of a slew of allegations from the NCAA over violations made by the football staff during the COVID-19 recruiting period. Jim Harbaugh, who was compelled to sit out for the final games of the college football season, now faces a Level I violation for being unaccommodating of the NCAA investigators concerning the alleged violations.
Michigan also faces four separate Level II violations which are comparatively less serious. This comes just months after Harbaugh was suspended for 3 games for his alleged involvement in the same.
The NCAA was not able to approve a negotiated resolution in time to suspend Harbaugh. In August, the committee issued a statement addressing the gravity of the situation surrounding the Michigan Wolverines over their recruitment during COVID-19 activities.
Jim Harbaugh got away with a relatively lighter quantum of punishment
The University of Michigan was sent a draft of the notice of allegations earlier in January. It specifically laid down all the Level I and Level II infractions HC Jim Harbaugh is being accused of.
The Michigan infractions case is related to impermissible on and off-campus recruiting during the COVID-19 dead period and impermissible coaching activities, not a cheeseburger....
The school is not completely out of the crosshairs yet as it stands to face yet another investigation from the NCAA over allegations of sign-stealing and off-campus scouting. This case deals with Connor Stallions, the former staff who is believed to be at the center of the whole scandal.
While Jim Harbaugh and his team have made the cut for the College football playoffs after going 13-0 this season, the coach had to serve a 3-game suspension towards the end of the season. He will not be impacted in any way once the CFP Semis begins at the Rose Bowl on the 1st of January.
