Jim Irsay is an eccentric American Billionaire who owns a sports franchise in the NFL. Apart from that, he has several other business ventures that contribute to his massive net worth. 

Still, nothing outshines his massive collection of artifacts that he has collected over years of auctions and connections. The Indianapolis Colts is known to have many historical artifacts that are currently worth billions of dollars.

Irsay’s priceless possessions includes a Stetson hat related to the assassination’s of former President John F. Kennedy. Additionally, he also owns an iconic championship belt that esteemed boxer Muhammad Ali won during his fight against George Foreman in Congo.

Recent reports suggest that Irsay turned down an offer of $1,150,000,000 for his complete collection by a middle eastern billionaire. The NFL team owner believes that his artifacts and collection is priceless and he never intends to sell it.

“I’ve been offered $1.15 billion for the collection in totality by someone in the Middle East,” Jim Irsay stated. “I turned it down because, to me, No. 1, it’s priceless. And No. 2, I never started the collection for that reason, to look at it and say, ‘Oh, this is going to be a great investment.'”

The collection is personal to Jim Irsay and be believes no one can put a price on it. His collection also includes a memorabilia from the iconic band ‘The Beatles’. The most recent addition to his collection is the championship belt won by Muhammad Ali in 1974 that was up for auction recently.

Jim Irsay buys the Muhammad Ali championship belt for $6.18 million

Muhammad Ali is regarded as one of the most iconic boxer of all time. The influential boxer led a highly controversial life and won many belts throughout his tenure.

However, the most memorable was the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ championship belt and Jim Irsay had his eyes set on it. Ali won the belt after defeating George Foreman in an intense battle in the jungles of Zaire (now Congo).

“Ali’s the greatest athlete that ever lived,” Irsay said. “And his greatest moment was in Zaire. No one thought he could beat Foreman.” The Colts owner bought the belt from an auction that lasted for more than 6 hours.

He was against a persistent bidder. However, his love for memorabilia for more than that person and eventually Jim Irsay bought the belt for a whopping $6.18 million.
