After sitting out the entire 2022 season, the veteran tight end Jimmy Graham is trying to revive his career in the NFL. Last month, Graham signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints where he will play for the veteran minimum salary. Amidst his comeback attempt, Graham is now facing legal issues following an alleged medical episode in Los Angeles.

On Friday, the Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was arrested in Southern California on suspicion of being under the influence. According to TMZ, Graham was behaving erratically when he was wandering the streets of Los Angeles. When the cops attempted to detain Graham, the 36-year-old reportedly resisted and started running away from them.

Eventually, the cops took the former Pro Bowl tight end into custody for suspicion of substance abuse and obstructing police officials. Graham was eventually released from custody, but the incident is still under investigation. Graham is suspected to have had a medical episode per reports.

This is not an ideal situation for Graham, who is in the middle of his comeback attempt. The veteran sat down the last season following a 2-year stint with the Chicago Bears.

Graham was drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New Orleans-based football team. He played for 5 years with the Saints and registered 4752 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns while catching passes from the legendary quarterback Drew Brees. He also had stints with the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.

Saints release statement on Jimmy Graham arrest

Following the arrest of the 5-time Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham, the Saints released a statement on Saturday afternoon and revealed that Graham suffered from a likely seizure.

“New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham experienced a medical episode last evening, which resulted in him becoming disoriented,” the team said. “He was taken into custody by local authorities and transported to a local hospital for evaluation for what Dr. John Amoss believes to be a likely seizure and spent the night under medical supervision and testing.”

The former All-Pro tight end was with the Saints camp who were in LA for their preseason battle against the Los Angeles Chargers that is scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Jimmy Graham has played for 12 seasons in the NFL with 4 different teams. So far, in his career, Graham has registered 5 Pro Bowl seasons and 1 first-team All-Pro season. The last time Graham made it to the Pro Bowl was back in 2017, when he was playing for the Seahawks.
