36-year-old Jimmy Graham rolled back time on Sunday against the Houston Texans. The veteran tight end capped off his charge to the red zone with a kiss and dunked the ball through the goalpost.
Graham has 12 years of NFL experience under his belt, but the last time he stepped on the field was in 2021. He was anything but a starter for the New Orleans Saints, as they signed him just a month ago. As most of the regular team members, including QB Derek Carr, rested for the final preparation match, he was thrown into the mix to stretch the old limbs.
He did more than that. The five-time Pro Bowler reminded the Old Gold as to why they had signed him for the first time way back in 2010. In the second quarter, backup quarterback Jameis Winston threw a 12-yard pass to Graham, which he caught unchallenged. For the first time in nine years, he had scored a six-pointer for the Vegas franchise. He completed the night with three catches for 34 yards, including a 25-yarder on a 50/50 ball and almost knocking over coach Dennis Allen.
It was classic. Jimmy Graham, sniffing out the space and leaping the highest, plucks the ball out of the air as if it were 2013. During his previous stint with the Raiders, he recorded 51 touchdowns. Many of them resembled the one he scored yesterday.
Fans who have missed his old dunks and hoops in the red zone wrote that he hasn’t lost his touch. Some even had to look at the calendar to decide whether it was really 2023 or not.
Jimmy Graham was a college phenomenon

Born in North Carolina, Jimmy Graham always had an athletic aura around him. The world may be familiar with his NFL career, but he only played one season of football in college. His interests lay in basketball, and he joined the University of Miami basketball team, the Hurricanes, in 2005 and played under coach Frank Haith.
In four seasons with the Hurricanes, Graham played 120 matches and averaged 16.1 points per match. While completing double majors in marketing and management, he switched to playing football. In his solitary season, he lined up as a tight end for the Miami team. He finished the season with 17 receptions for 213 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.
Recently, he was arrested in Southern California on suspicion of being under the influence. As per TMZ, he was behaving erratically while wandering through the streets of Los Angeles. Cops apprehended Graham, but he was later released from custody.
