The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Detroit Lions in their week 17 game on Saturday. During halftime, the America’s Team felicitated their former head coach Jimmy Johnson by inducting him into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor. It also ended years of enmity between the head coach and the team’s owner/general manager, Jerry Jones.
Johnson was the Cowboys’ head coach from 1989 to 1993. During that span, the Cowboys won two Super Bowls and established themselves as a dynasty. Johnson also won the AP NFL Coach of the Year award in 1990. However, a fallout with Jones ended his Cowboys’ tenure in 1993. His achievements with the Dallas-based team were enough to honor him on Saturday.
While his highlight reel played on the giant screen at the AT&T Stadium, however, Johnson was captured buckling his belt while standing beside a cheerleader. It was a rather awkward moment as Johnson seemingly did not know that the camera was on him and proceeded to buckle his belt. A fan pointed it out and posted it on Twitter. The caption read:

Johnson’s former players, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith attended the ceremony along with other Ring of Honor members. The legendary head coach thanked his owner and proceeded to give a riveting speech, and the Cowboys won the game, which added a nice cherry on top of a very special night.
Jerry Jones claims inducting Jimmy Johnson into the Ring of Honor is ‘right thing to do’
The Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones finally decided to honor the team’s multiple Super Bowl-winning head coach, Jimmy Johnson, by inducting him into the team’s Ring of Honor. The ceremony took place at the AT&T Stadium during the halftime of the Cowboys’ week 17 game against the Detroit Lions.
Jones and Johnson had an ugly split almost 30 years ago and as a result of which Johnson left the team in 1993. However, that seems to be behind the duo as the owner claimed that inducting Johnson into the Ring of Honor was the “right thing to do.” Jones said:
It happened because it's the right thing to do.Jerry Jones on Jimmy Johnson at Ring of Honor night
The Cowboys this season are Super Bowl contenders. They won their game against the Lions by one point and have improved to 11-5. They will end their regular season next Sunday on the road against the Washington Commanders.
