Following another underwhelming campaign under Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has now turned to some old-time friends for advice. Recently, the ex-Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson revealed that he has been added to Jones’ ‘advisory board’ ahead of the 2024 off-season.
While the two put aside their long-time beef to work together, let’s take a look at what Johnson said about their friendship immediately after he was inducted into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor last December. Johnson reminisced the old-time friendship he had with Jones.

It's funny because every time I'm with Jerry even here for the last hour or so, we tell stories back and forth and laugh and cut up and kind of like Terry Bradshaw said when he saw us together, the whole thing, he said, 'well, when you two guys are together, it's like a couple of brothers, you know, laughing, cutting up and telling stories.Jimmy Johnson said during his ROH induction ceremony
Jimmy Johnson used to be the Cowboys head coach and led them to 2 Super Bowl victories. Despite his achievements, he was fired by owner Jerry Jones, which left their relationship icy and bitter over the years. However, in recent years, they have worked out their issues and patched up their relationship. Jones honored Johnson by adding him to the Cowboys’ ROH last December.
It seems like Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones will now be working together again. Although it’s not an official hire, Johnson recently revealed that Jones sought advice from him regarding Dallas’ off-season plans. Jones usually has few trusted people who guide him on certain football decisions and now Johnson is one of them.

During Johnson’s recent interview with Joe Rose on WQAM 560 AM in Miami, the 2-time Super Bowl-winning head coach revealed Jones had a conversation with him regarding Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy. This conversation happened immediately after the Cowboys’ playoff loss against the Green Bay Packers in the wildcard round.
Jones is certainly doing everything in his power to help his team win another championship. Still, he has a long way to go in terms of adding some missing pieces to their roster.
