With the 2024 NFL Draft just around the corner, the Combine is known to be the best time to anticipate the teams’ next actions and also highlight the top prospects to steal away the show during the drafts. That’s why, often the prospective players are interviewed and measured to test their capabilities through various drills. And so is happening in Indianapolis, this week.

One of those top prospects includes former Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy, who when evaluated isn’t close to his peers in terms of career stats. In light of his aviating name on the draft boards, the Combine interviews focused on his inconsistent stats, in comparison to fellow top prospects including Drake Maye, Caleb Williams, and Jayden Daniels

This surely isn’t the first time when McCarthy has about his incompetence in dominating the score box. But the only difference with this time is, that the young quarterback had a fitting response, and he didn’t hold back from asserting it.

The only stat I cared about was W’s, and we did pretty good in that category.

From his words, it seems clear that McCarthy hasn’t focused on counting his stats, instead he prioritized winning by whatever means and he surely didn’t fall short there. Because, in the NFL as well, what matters at the end of the day: who won? Picking QB McCarthy would give that to them.

What are the potential landing spots for JJ McCarthy?

As many predicted the Chicago Bears would trade their No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, but FantasyPoints.com‘s Brett Whitefield claimed they would give it to the Carolina Panthers, who had the poor stats last season. He also predicted the Panthers would likely go with the Michigan QB McCarthy.

On the contrary, NFL’s Eric Edholm predicted the potential landing spot for McCarthy to be the Los Angeles Rams as the 19th pick. The recent Ryan Wilson mock draft concluded with McCarthy getting selected by the Las Vegas Raiders as the 13th pick.

The Mock drafts claimed that McCarthy is likely to go in the first or second round of the upcoming NFL Draft. He is among the top prospects for his extraordinary record of winning 29 out of the 30 games he played as a starter in Michigan.
