Looks like the NFL’s one of the greatest defensive players doesn’t appreciate the level of hatred the pop superstar, Taylor Swift has been receiving lately for her frequent attendance at Kansas City Chiefs games. JJ Watt finally voiced his opinion on the high-profile romance of Travis Kelce and Swift, and its influence on the NFL.

It all started when the All-pro tight end went straight to his girlfriend, after his team won their sixth consecutive AFC championship leading to their fourth Super Bowl in the last five years, and took her in his arms to show his affection by kissing her. However, their romantic moment seemed to have caused a stir on the internet with NFL fans expressing their dislikeness towards the “Lover” songwriter.

He told Christina Garibaldi:

They show celebrities at games all the time. I don't really understand why it has caused such an uproar. She's literally there supporting her significant other, and that's what you should do as a significant other.

How Taylor Swift boosted the NFL and the Chiefs’ revenue

Contrary to what fans’ believe, the presence of the 12-time Grammy winner has been quite beneficial for the NFL. Her frequent attendance at Chiefs games to support her beau has had a prominent financial impact on the franchise, and that’s expected to expand more in the Super Bowl.

The tickets for the game have risen to $12,000, which is 36% higher than last year. This gave the small businesses in Kansas City a great opportunity to seek more customers and cash in vigorously. Moreover, around 16% of US shoppers have admitted Swift has influenced them to spend money on football, as per a recent survey.

According to Apex Marketing Group, the pop icon has created a brand value of $331.5 million for digital content and online news, benefitting the Chiefs as well as the NFL. Interestingly, the number is almost double the $166 million generated back in October.
