The Arizona Cardinals’ star edge rusher JJ Watt recently retired from NFL after playing in the league for 12 seasons. The legendary defensive end played with the Houston Texans for a decade before he decided to take his talents to the Arizona-based football team in hopes of winning a Super Bowl ring. However, the plan didn’t work out for him since he dealt with a lot of injuries during the latter part of his illustrious career.

Justin James Watt played college football in Central Michigan and Wisconsin and was drafted by the Texans with their 11th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was a cornerstone player in the Texans for years as he managed to rake up a whopping 101 sacks with the Houston-based franchise. During his time with the Texans, he went to five Pro Bowls and was named to the All-Pro team five teams.

However, he couldn’t win the Super Bowl ring with the Texans, so during the final stages of his career he wanted to play for a team who has a shot at winning the Super Bowl, so he signed a contract with the Cardinals. But he was limited by injuries during his first season with them and managed to register just one sack in his seven games.

Nevertheless, in the 2022 season, he had a massive comeback as he managed to start 16 games for them and registered a team-high 12.5 sacks, and yet, to everyone’s surprise, Watt announced on Dec 27, that the 2022 season would be his last as an NFL player.

For those who don’t know, DeMeco Ryans is a former Texans linebacker who is now working as a defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. His tremendous job with the Niners’ defense has gained a lot of attention, which has gotten him a lot of interviews for a potential head coach job in the NFL.

Ryans is now considered the favorite to land the head coaching job of the Texans after he reportedly dropped out of the Denver Broncos HC race. And he may certainly consider hiring one of the greatest defensive players to strengthen his crew.
