Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been the heartthrob in the city of Cincinnati ever since he was selected first overall in the 2020 NFL draft. However, there has been a new sensation in town who has been attracting attention to himself — Elly De La Cruz.
The Cincinnati Reds infielder became a national hero when he hit a 458 feer home run and ran an 11-second triple in his second game appearance. The young gun didn’t stop there. In the game against the Atlanta Braves on June 23, Elly De La Cruz hit a cycle and created history by becoming the youngest person to do so since 1972.
For the baseball illiterate, ‘hit a cycle’ means that the batter hits a single, double, triple, and a home run in that order in a single game. The chances of this happening are as rare as Halley’s comet. There have been only 343 instances where players have hit a cycle since the inception of Major League Baseball.
Everyone in the country is a fan of Elly De La Cruz and the Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is super proud that the two are playing for the same city. Burrow recently visited Great American Ball Park and tried his hand at baseball as well. He smashed a few home runs during his practice session and shared the picture on Instagram with a witty caption. Burrow wrote: “Joey De La Cruz.”
Seeing Burrow’s funny post, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Donovan Mitchell also chimed in on the fun and commented on the superstar quarterback’s post, “You ain’t hit any out” and called him out. Let’s hope De La Cruz, Burrow, and Donovan have a competition to see which one of them can hit the longest home run!
Can Joe Burrow lead the Bengals back to the Super Bowl in 2023?

Ever since Joe Burrow’s arrival in Cincinnati, the Bengals have gone from becoming the worst team in the league for decades to one of the best. The LSU alum has taken the Bengals back to glory and made them a formidable team. Burrow did manage to lead them to Super Bowl LVI but unfortunately lost the game to the Los Angeles Rams. It was a wonder that the Bengals even went that far with the offensive line they had in that season.
The 2022 was also a great one for Joe Burrow and Co. The Bengals made it all the way to the AFC Championship game, and it looked like they would crush the Chiefs for the second time in a row to advance to the Super Bowl, but one-legged Patrick Mahomes didn’t let that happen. The 26-year-old signal-caller had a great performance during the entire season as he threw for 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He was really close to being named the league’s Most Valuable Player but once again lost to Mahomes.
It is really hard to imagine that Burrow has been in the league just for three years. In his three years, Burrow has drawn comparisons to legendary quarterback Tom Brady from experts all over the league. Many have commended his football IQ and his competitiveness and hunger for success.
