The Cleveland Browns just completed a demolition job on their division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals. QB Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ offense failed to score a touchdown as the Browns defense held them for only one field goal. The Cleveland-based team on the other hand poured in 24 points and totally outplayed the Cincinnati Bengals.
Burrow recently signed a 5-year extension that made him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The expectations on the star QB were, naturally, very high coming into week 1. Burrow, however, had a horrific afternoon as he completed only 14 of his 31 passes and threw for just 82 yards and 0 TDs. He struggled all afternoon to grip the ball in horrible weather conditions and was nowhere near his best.
Fans on social media were quickly on Burrow’s’ neck for his lackluster performance. They blamed him for the Bengals’ loss. One fan sarcastically called out Burrow for his performance despite getting paid a $275 million extension yesterday. He was benched midway through the fourth quarter as the game was already out of reach for the Bengals.
The Bengals will play the Baltimore Ravens in their next game on September 17. The Ravens won their first game 25-9 against the Houston Texans. It will be another tough matchup for the Bengals and Burrow will hope to bounce back from his disastrous performance. The pressure though, will keep on increasing as the Bengals are Super Bowl contenders this season.

Weather played a huge role in Bengals’ loss to the Browns in week 1

Yes, the Cincinnati Bengals got manhandled by the Browns. Yes, Joe Burrow was terrible. However, the weather in Cleveland was just as horrific as the Bengals in their week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns. It was a rainy afternoon and a lot of players struggled to handle the football throughout the game.
The entire game was played in brutal conditions with rain consistently making an appearance. The first half would’ve finished 3-0 to the Browns if not for a last-minute touchdown run by Browns QB Deshaun Watson. Burrow struggled to handle the ball and even had to wear a glove on his throwing hand at one point to get a proper grip on the football, something he doesn’t like to do.
That being said, the Browns thoroughly outplayed the Bengals and deservedly won the game. Watson struggled early but had a good second half and the Cleveland defense had a great day. They sacked Burrow twice and put a lot of pressure on him throughout the game. The Browns will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in their next game whereas the Bengals will host the Baltimore Ravens in their week 2 match-up.
