Taking the time in the bye week, the Cincinnati Bengals are preparing for their upcoming face-off against one of the better defenses in the NFL the San Francisco 49ers. Though the team is taking time to rest, the quarterback Joe Burrow did not seem interested in that.

During a recent news conference with the Bengals, the quarterback revealed that after getting a ‘100%’ in health, he locked in on football during the bye week to prepare for the third consecutive win.

When asked about the schedule change from the prior season and his routine, Burrow said:

Our bye came a little earlier. So you know your body and your mind is a little different. Not feeling quite like you needed a bye week. So I was a little more locked in on football this bye week than I would have been in past bye weeks.

Lately, the Bengals’ quarterback struggled with accuracy, therefore he is using the bye week to sharpen his skills to get prepared to play the 49ers this weekend. After recovering from his calf strain and getting 100% healthy, Cincinnati’s best offensive player is all set to return to the elite that he has, been for the past two seasons.

Bengals face 49ers in a high-stakes game after bye week

As the 49ers have the second-highest-scoring offense this season, the Bengals need the quarterback Burrow to be at his ultimate best in the weekend game. For the past two seasons, the Bengals have been following a contract growth coming out of their bye week. In fact, last season, the team won seven games after coming out of bye week and also had a 10-game winning streak in the AFC championship. And as 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy went into concussion protocol, there are slight chances that he would play against the Bengals.

As Burrow shared he is focusing on sharpening his skills, he is spending time watching games of other teams across the league, along with his own to analyze his drawbacks that he can improve.

As both Bengals and 49ers are considered Super Bowl contenders this season, their game is gaining great hype. When asked about this, Burrow said,

It's exciting. We know it’s gonna be a challenge. We relish going on the road and playing those kinds of environments. It’ll be a big challenge. We’ll find out a lot of ourselves on Sunday. I think we just got to go out and play well, we got to focus on getting the win. Like I said, we let the narratives and the headlines to do what they’re going to do. We’re focused about what we need to do to get a win this Sunday.

The Bengals are among the top-bottom five teams in points scored and covering fewer net yards of offense, but as they come out of bye week, the team would try to get above .500 this season. It all depends on their faceoff against the 49ers, which is going to be a treat to watch.
