Another disappointment for the Cincinnati Bengals and their fans. They ended up losing the match against the Tennessee Titans by a margin of 27-3. Their expensive QB, Joe Burrow, had a below-average outing. He finished the game by completing 20 of his 30 passes and covering 165 yards. He failed to register a single touchdown.
The QB was hammered after the game by fans and analysts. They took to social media to express their grudge over this abysmal performance of Burrow. Surprisingly, this is the third game for the QB this season without any touchdown. In their season opener against the Cleveland Browns and the third game against the Los Angeles Rams, the highest-paid quarterback failed to register a single touchdown on his name.
Burrow signed a record-breaking deal this offseason. He signed a contract worth $275 million for four years with the Bengals. He was a celebrated quarterback at that time. Little did he think that in the coming weeks, he would see fingers raised at him.
The main reason to be blamed for his poor performance is injury. The QB suffered an injury on his calf in the team’s training session during the offseason, which led him to miss the entire preseason and training matches. Lack of matches and training sessions impacted his chemistry with the Bengals teammates and it was visible in the game vs. the Browns.
In addition to this, the player also suffered an injury on his calf in the second game on the league roster. Back-to-back injuries have made the job difficult for Burrow. The team management has to sit with him and sort things out. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the Bengals to qualify for the playoffs this season as they are already 1-3 down.
Netizens compared Joe Burrow with Zach Willson after week 4 loss
After the abysmal performance by the Bengals’ QB, netizens took the issue to Twitter and did not leave a single chance to troll him. Some of them even compared him to Zach Wilson, the ‘accidental’ starting quarterback of the New York Jets.
Fans are not completely wrong though. Wilson, despite failing to shine on the field, has more touchdowns than Burrow, this season. In four games, Wilson registered four touchdowns. He was also intercepted four times in the league.
Burrow, on the other hand, registered only two touchdowns and also has been intercepted twice in the league. Wilson is also leading in terms of the overall QBR rating. They both covered nearly the same passing yards. However, Wilson is leading in terms of completing more passes, making this comparison more legit.
