“Would make it shorter”: Here’s the one NFL rule that Bengals QB Joe Burrow REALLY wants to see changed

Joe Burrow shares his two cents on rules that he would like to see changed in the NFL.
If Roger Goodell ever feels like taking a vacation, he should consider putting Joe Burrow in charge of the NFL for the interim. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback stated his opinion on the rules in the league that he would really like to see changed. In an interview with analyst Colin Cowherd, Joey B gave his two cents on the existing rules in the NFL.
The first rule that Joe Burrow would change with immediate effect would be to ensure that holding carries a uniform penalty. “Offensive and defensive holding would be the same penalty. Defensive holding is only five yards, offensive holding is 10 yards. I just think they should be the same.” There is a lot of subjectivity when it comes to handing out penalties for holding calls.
The referees tend to hand out more penalties for offensive holding calls at times and vice versa. The offense bears the brunt of dealing with a bigger penalty. The quarterback does not state if he wants both the offense and defense to get a 10-yard penalty or a 5-yard penalty. However, from an athlete’s perspective, it would be safe to assume he means 5-yards for both.
Offensive players enjoy defensive holding calls. Not only do you get 5-yards but there is also an automatic first down that is called. What’s not to love about that? The defense hates them as in the case of a third-and situation, the offense will end up getting an automatic first down.
Joe Burrow would like to see the NFL rules changed and made similar to the NCAA rules:

The NCAA changed its defensive holding rule earlier this year, as per the amended rules, teams flagged for defensive holding get 10-yards and the offense gets a first down. Though Joe Burrow may consider this to be an issue, that is not the common consensus across the NFL. In 2018, the league arrived attempted to change the pass interference rule to a 15-yard penalty, but this proposal did not go anywhere.
In addition to this rule, there is one more change that Joe Burrow would like to see made. He wants a shorter preseason, however; he is not necessarily against the existing setup. Each team has to play 3 games in the preseason but Burrow wants it reduced to 2 games per team.
“I would continue to make it shorter, like one or two games. It is a great chance for young guys to go out there and get an opportunity so you have to take that into account too. I think three is a good number.” Three seems to be the sweet spot, it is neither too many games nor too less. Just enough for teams to give their 53-man roster a chance to go out on the field and play.
