Joe Burrow returned to practice on Tuesday after being carted off during practice on July 27. But analyst Joy Taylor wants the Bengals quarterback to not play on opening night. Although head coach Zac Taylor refused to comment on how long the 26-year-old would be out, there were speculations that he might miss games for up to three weeks. Even his teammate Ja’Marr Chase advised Burrow to stay in rehab and return by week 5.
But the Pro Bowler proved everyone wrong and came out before their preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. But what surprised Chase even more is that Burrow trained wearing pads with them on August 30.
As the deadline to finalize the 53-man roster approached, some players had to be moved on. But the Bengals only had third-choice Jake Browning as their solitary healthy quarterback. Moreover, they signed Will Grier after he was cut from the Cowboys. They were in a bind as to who would be their starting signal-caller in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. However, Joe Burrow’s return eases that burden for the Bengals front office.
But FOX Sports senior analyst Joy Taylor says that Burrow should avoid playing on the first day. She wants the LSU graduate to sign the blockbuster deal that he was supposed to before he got injured. According to her, football is a contact sport, so anything can happen at any time. So if he plays without penning a new deal and gets injured for good, then he may regret it.
“At this point, I am operating from a place of fear,” she said in a recent segment of Speak. “If he’s healthy, he’s going to play. My opinion is that until I have the signature on the document Sign it and give me the money. This is a violent sport. Things can happen.”

Joe Burrow’s contract talks stalled because of injury

Burrow was set to become the highest-paid player in the NFL before his recent calf injury. It was a contract merry-go-round for a while when the Eagles made Jalen Hurts the top-earning footballer.
Just a few days later, the Ravens gave Lamar Jackson that title. However, all records were shattered when the Chargers created history by giving Justin Herbert a $262 million paycheck.
The Cincinnati Bengals were tipped to pay the 2022 NFL comeback player of the year even more. Last month, when Burrow was asked about the contract situation, he replied that he was ready to wait. But he also mentioned that if it gets done quickly, it’s “good for everybody.”
